소개 About

Korean in Kuwait으로 오신 것을 환영하다! 대부분의 이 사이트가 내 개인적인 한국어 공부 일기다. 내가 쿠웨이트로 이사한 2008년 여름부터 한국어를 공부를 했다. 그래서 이 사이트 이름을 골랐다! 나는 100% 백인 미국인이고 한국어 공부를 시작했을 때 영어 외에 다른 언어를 하지 못했다. 그 때부터 많이 진행했다.

Welcome to Korean in Kuwait! The bulk of this site is dedicated to my personal Korean language learning log. I’ve been studying Korean since the summer of 2008, when I moved to Kuwait. Hence the name! I’m a 100% white American and didn’t speak any language other than English when I started. I’ve come a long way since then.

 

공부의 초기에 흉내내기를 위해서 인터넷에서 외국어를 잘 배운 사람들을 검색했다. 외국어를 잘 한다는 사람들이 되게 많이 찾았고 그들이 조언을 많이 내려줬지만, 실천적으로 어떻게 배웠는지 설명해주는 일기를 찾기가 힘들었다. 자주 실력 증거도 하나도 없었기 때문에 좀 혼란스러웠다!

Early on in my study I looked online for people who had learned other languages so that I could emulate them. I found lots of people claiming to have learned languages and giving lots of advice, but I had a hard time finding any actual logs of what those people did. Often there wasn’t much proof of their skill level either, which made things confusing.

 

이 혼란스러움 때문에 나의 성공, 실패, 그리고 신행을 기록하기로 했다. 내 포괄적인 일기임으로써 다른 외국어 학자들이 자기 공부에 관 한 기준점 있고, 외국어학에 대한 헛소리를 처리하고, 즐기면서 폭표를 이루기를 바란다!

Because of all this confusion I made sure to record my own successes, failures, and progress. I hope that with my quite comprehensive log and recorded evidence of my Korean level that other potential learners will have a reference point for their own studies, dispel some myths about language learning, and achieve their goals while having fun!

 

내 일기에서 원하는 부분을 가져가라. 나는 공부하는 동안 많은 것을 해봤다. 일부는 잘 되었고 또 일부는 잘 안 되었다. 너라서 잘 될 방법을 무엇인지 난 잘 모르겠다. 그래서 내 아이디어를 사용하거나 그를 개선하거나 사용하지 않으라. 이젠 내 최신 글 읽을 수 있고, 처음부터 읽을 수 있다.

Take what you want from my learning log. There are a lot of different things I have tried over this time. Some of them worked well for me and some of them didn’t. I don’t know what will work for you, so go ahead and use my ideas, or modify them, or don’t use them at all. Feel free to read my latest blog entries, or if you want you can start from the beginning.
